Dynamo Room is a brand new steak house located at the recently developed Penn Station District in Manhattan. The raw bar & grill is the newest project from Sunday Hospitality (Rule of Thirds, Sunday In Brooklyn, Cafe Chelsea, Hotel Chelsea Lobby Bar, El Quijote, Bedford Post Inn & more), opening in March 2025. We are currently hiring for all positions in FOH and BOH, with positions starting in March. We are assembling a fantastic team for our new restaurant opening, and we’d love for you to be part of this exciting opportunity! About This Role Sommeliers are responsible for enhancing the guest experience by assisting with beverage selection and increasing wine sales, overall guest satisfaction and happiness, and maintaining a general command of the food and beverage menu. Sommeliers provide impeccable hospitality to each of our clients, working specifically with each individual to curate the best experience possible. Requirements for Success: Commitment to excellence Desire to learn Passion for food and hospitality Positive attitude A true appreciation for customer service Ability to multi-task (ex: manage multiple tables & orders) Idea of teamwork- collaborate with both FOH and BOH staff Problem solving- proven ability to handle any issues concerning tables and/or orders taken Attention to detail- a complete understanding of our menu & wine list What You Bring: Minimum of 3+ years’ experience as a sommelier in a high-volume restaurant CMS/WSETE Certification preferred A track record of proven wine sales Ability to manage high volume service with consistent positive energy A passion for excellence in hospitality A team player attitude A track record of consistent beverage service Flexible work schedules: the ability to work night, weekends, holidays, as business permits The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects, up to 50lbs Kneel, bend, or stoop, ascend or descend stairs; be on feet for extended periods of time Specific job duties include, but are not limited to: Enhances guest experience by guiding them through wine and beverage offerings in relation to the food menu Checks identification of all customers who appear under 30 to verify they are of legal drinking age prior to serving them Helps guests to make selections from food and beverage menus, suggests pairings, explains any off-menu items Possesses a general knowledge of grape varietals, regions, tasting notes, vintages, and producers from the wine and beverage lists Maintains wine and service stations Takes orders from guests, ensures 100% accuracy when entering orders into POS Submits accurate cash and tip reporting, contributes to tip pool as applicable SHG Hospitality is an equal opportunity employer.
